These include organisations dealing with refrigeration and air conditioning issues, and organisations dealing with Montreal Protocol and UNFCCC related climate issues, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). All consultancies are conducted on a short-term assignment basis.
    • Neither I, nor my wife (occupational therapist and University Professor) or my children own stock or have proprietary interest in companies producing ODS or their alternatives or substitutes.

I have founded the company ref-tech engineering in 2012, an independent consulting organization with experts as partners. Services are related to product development for equipment and systems operating in transport refrigeration, industrial refrigeration, heat exchangers and compressors. I am working on risk assessments for refrigerants, investigation of annual energy consumption and operation of transport refrigeration equipment, on development of safety concepts, on a hydrocarbon refrigerant strategy project for the German Environmental Department and on certification of products. I am member of German standardization committee for safety. At ISO TC 104 Thermal Container, I am working as project leader for the development of a safety standard for flammable refrigerants for reefer container. Currently I work for international companies on future refrigeration technologies. Since 1994 I have been involved in matters related to the Montreal Protocol.

  2. I am a full-time employee of the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA) Stratospheric Protection Division, Washington, DC. My responsibilities include working as Branch Chief of the Alternatives and Emissions Reduction Branch, Stratospheric Protection Division, and sector analyst in a program that includes reviews of alternatives for various sectors of use in support of the U.S. transition away from ozone-depleting substances (ODS). In this capacity, I work within the various sectors of ODS including the fire suppression sector to review the human health and environmental effects of alternatives to ozone-depleting halons, once widely used in many specialty industrial, military, marine, and aviation applications. I serve as member on a number of technical committees under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). I also work on issues such as recovery/recycling and destruction of ODS with related government and nongovernmental organizations and stakeholders in the U.S. The USEPA has an interest in the topics of the Montreal Protocol because the Agency is responsible for implementing national regulations and policies to meet the US commitments under the Protocol. In addition, the USEPA has funded government and non-governmental organizations working on ozone layer protection, atmospheric science, and environmental and health effects research.
  3. This declaration constitutes my written agreement, pursuant to paragraph 8 of the COI Guidelines, to comply with the Guidelines.  I understand that this written agreement is a condition of my service.

I, Maher H. Mousa, nominated by Saudi Arabia and residing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as a member of the RTOC, declare as follows:

1) I have read the Conflict of Interest and Disclosure Guidelines for the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel, its Technical Options Committees and Temporary Subsidiary Bodies (“the COI Guidelines”) as adopted by the Meeting of the Parties in Decision XXIV/8.

2) My responsibilities include:

Consultancy, to private and public sectors in the areas of HVAC Product development, program management, construction management, testing laboratories, technology transfer and energy and environmental regulations, under my private consultancy office located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I am currently a consultant to Johnson Controls Inc. for Sustainability and Energy Efficiency in the Middle East and Africa and the Director of Engineered Product group for Al Salem Johnson Controls Saudi Arabia.

Neither I, nor my spouse or my children own stock or have proprietary interest in companies producing ODSs or their alternatives or substitutes.

3) This declaration constitutes my written agreement, pursuant to paragraph 8 of the COI Guidelines, to comply with the Guidelines. I understand that this written agreement is a condition of my service.

4) My interests and those of my spouse or children related to ODS, or their alternatives include the following:

  • Proprietary interests related to ODS, or their alternatives: None
  • Financial interests related to ODS, or their alternatives: None
  • Employment, consultancy, directorship, or other positions related to ODS, or their alternatives: as described in numeral 2 above

7) I undertake to disclose any material change to any of the above information, pursuant to paragraph 9 of the COI Guidelines, within 30 days of any such change.

8) I undertake to make further declarations of interest annually for so long as I remain a member of the RTOC.

I, Tetsuji Okada, nominated by Japan and residing in Yokohama Japan, member of RTOC since 2013, co-author of two chapters of the RTOC 2014 assessments in prior assessments declare as follows:

1) I have read the Conflict of Interest and Disclosure Guidelines for the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel, its Technical Options Committees and Temporary Subsidiary Bodies (“the COI Guidelines”) as adopted by the Meeting of the Parties in Decision XXIV/8.

2) My responsibilities include

I am a President in JRAIA (Japan Refirigeration and Air conditioning Industry Association). I was transfer from Mitsubishi Electric Corporation to JRAIA in June 2014. I have engaged in the research and development of the air conditioners and the hot water systems by CO2 (Eco cute). I am also familiar with the heat exchangers used in the air conditioners and the refrigerant circuits of the heat pump systems.

I am a member of Japan Refirigeration and Air conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA)

Neither I, nor my wife or my children own stock or have proprietary interest in companies producing ODS or their alternatives or substitutes.

  1. I have read the Conflict of Interest and Disclosure Guidelines for the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel, Its Technical Options Committees and Temporary Subsidiary Bodies (“the COI Guidelines”) as adopted by the Meeting of the Parties in Decision XXIV/8.
  2. My responsibilities include:
    • I am Professor of Fisica tecnica industriale (Thermal Sciences) at Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM) in Ancona, Italy. My responsibilities include teaching courses and doing research in the fields of Thermal sciences, Thermal systems, Refrigeration and air conditioning, Renewable energies and Energy saving technologies. It’s also my responsibility doing coordination and administrative work as Department Director. I occasionally work, within UNIVPM terms, as a consultant for Companie, Local Government Bodies and UN Implementing Agencies in fields such as Energy planning, Renewables and Refrigeration. All consultancies are conducted on a short-term assignment basis. At present I am National Delegate for Italy at the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR).
    • Neither I, nor my former wife (divorced, an English teacher) nor my children own stock or have proprietary interests in Companies producing ODS or their alternatives or substitutes. I own shares in two Small Enterprises, both Academic Spin-Offs, which, among their scopes, also develop innovative refrigeration systems not containing ODS.

  6. Pursuant to paragraph 11 of the COI Guidelines I declare that I have not declined to disclose information falling within paragraph 10 of those Guidelines.
  7. I undertake to disclose any material change to any of the above information, pursuant to paragraph 9 of the COI Guidelines, within 30 days of any such change.
